Dimensional Letter Project Syosset, New York

Island Signs and Graphics was contacted by a local accounting firm in Syosset New York to update their company name on the wall of their building. They had existing lettering and were changing the name of the company and needed new lettering.

There are many options for dimensional lettering in terms of material, size, fonts and color. In terms of materials, the choices include Acrylic letters, formed plastic letters, injection mold letters, cut aluminum letters, cast metal letters and fabricated metal letters. Each of these types of letters can be painted any color to match company colors or the surrounding décor. The choice of material can be driven by style and budget. Most of these types of letters come in standard fonts but also are available in custom fonts as well.

Size of letters is very important as readability is the main reason for signage. Below is a chart that provides minimum required letter size in terms of height at various viewing distance.

For this particular project the existing letters were formed plastic letters painted brown, Helvetica font which we matched. The letters were sized appropriately based on readability. These dimensional letters were stud mounted flush into the face of the building.
